Our tour officially begins early this evening with a Meet n Greet dinner. This is all about coming together as a group, meeting the team, getting to know your fellow travellers, and sharing the excitement of the journey ahead. Over good food and conversation, we'll begin to form the friendships and connections that will become such a memorable part of travelling together.

During dinner I'll share a brief introduction to the adventure that awaits us as we travel throughout England, offering some background to the story we'll uncover over the coming days.

INCLUSIONS: 3-course Welcome Dinner with a complimentary glass of wine and deluxe accommodation

  • Day 2: Setting the Stage

Our exploration begins at the Tower of London, one of England's most iconic historic sites and a place deeply woven into the story of the Wars of the Roses. Over the centuries, this formidable fortress has served as royal palace, prison, treasury, and place of execution. Within its walls, kings, queens, nobles, and prisoners all played their part in the unfolding drama of English history.

As we walk through the Tower, we'll encounter stories of ambition, loyalty, imprisonment, and power, many of which will reappear throughout our journey. From royal intrigue to the fate of those who found themselves on the losing side of political struggle, the Tower offers a powerful introduction to the world we are about to enter.

The remainder of the afternoon is yours to enjoy at your own pace. You may wish to continue exploring London's remarkable history, perhaps visiting Westminster, wandering through its historic streets, or simply taking time to relax and settle into the rhythm of the journey. However you choose to spend the afternoon, you'll find yourself surrounded by centuries of history waiting to be discovered.

Today lays the foundations for the story ahead, introducing the people, places, and rivalries that would eventually plunge England into civil war.

As we explore the cathedral, we'll discover how this remarkable document helped shape the relationship between monarchs and their subjects, establishing principles that continue to influence governments around the world today. While created more than two centuries before the Wars of the Roses, Magna Carta forms an important part of the story, reminding us that questions of authority, loyalty, and power have long shaped the history of England.

After lunch at the historic Harvester Old Castle Pub, we continue to Gloucester, our home for the next two nights. It is a city rich in medieval heritage and closely connected to many of the events and personalities we will encounter throughout our journey.

Renowned for its breath-taking medieval architecture and royal connections, the cathedral provides another opportunity to immerse ourselves in the world of late medieval England and the powerful families who shaped its history.
