“Plantagenets in France, May 2026: what an absolute joyful experience! From early morning walks past rose-covered walls down village lanes, to exploring castle ruins and majestic cathedrals, this tour exceeded my every expectation.

Max has superbly crafted a unique travel opportunity allowing you to simply enjoy. Our friendly and knowledgeable French guide, Ange, was able to pull historical threads together - from pre-Roman Gaul through to the present day - with wit and humour. The focus, however, remained firmly on the Plantagenets and the Hundred Years War with surprises and special moments woven throughout our journey. Special thanks to Rhonda who went above and beyond in her quest for the perfect image to capture our adventures.

“I have just returned from a fabulous journey, Plantagenets in France. I have waited a lifetime to see France, and Max provided a genuine, high quality and truly wonderful experience. We had fun, explored, had surprises, laughed and made new friends. Our Hotels were 4-5* each and every night. Max and her helpers, Rhonda our photographer and Ange, our French guide, were the warmest of folks and most excellent guides. Our ports of call exceeded every expectation…Chateau Galliard, Rouen, Mont St Michel overnight! Le Mans, Poitiers, Bordeaux and Carcassonne! My longed for visit in the steps of the greatest knight William Marshal came true at Rocamadour. And Guedelon, experimental archeology in action…magnificent. And a few surprises to enchant every medieval historian. I cannot say enough good about the Plantagenet Tour offering. I look forward to my next adventure in 2027!”

“I had a fantastic holiday in France on the Plantagenet tour this May with Max and her excellent team.

I have been on a number of group tours before but this one was the best . We had a group of 13 fun people, half Aussies and half American. We also had the very efficient and handsome tour guide, Ange .

The accommodation at the different hotels was outstanding and exceeded my expectations for comfort and sometimes luxury.

I loved all the sites Max had selected for us to visit and sometimes she added an extra treat for a surprise. We also shared some memorable dinners together.

I have no hesitation in recommending these tours and have given 10/10 for my rating

It was interesting sharing a holiday with history lovers and it doesn’t matter if you aren’t a Plantagenet specialist.

“I recently participated in my second Plantagenet Discoveries tour. Having previously joined the fabulous Plantagenets in France tour in 2024, this time it was Plantagenet Heroines in England and was another fantastic experience. Once again Max expertly curated a trip that incorporated visits to many iconic historical sites (and some not so well known gems) along with luxury accommodation and ensured we were totally looked after from start to finish. We were accompanied by the wonderful Sharon Bennett Connelly, as our local resident historian, who generously shared her wealth of knowledge and passion for history with us. This was a small group tour and brought together by our love of history there was a wonderful sense of camaraderie amongst the group, plus much fun and laughter! I would certainly recommend these tours and will be looking forward to joining more in the future. Thanks again Max and Rhonda for the wonderful trip.”

“I joined Max for her inaugural Plantagenets in France tour, what a wonderful experience. I haven’t done anything like this before for a holiday and so I was a little apprehensive that it wouldn’t be for me. But I needn’t have worried, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great food and accommodation, a wonderful group of fellow travellers, a fantastic local tour guide Ange and driver Christoff and, of course, the many spectacular sites we visited and stayed at and their amazing histories. Whilst the tour has a focus on Plantagenet history I would highly recommend it to any history and travel lover. Max did a fantastic job of looking after us, keeping us entertained along the way with quizzes and discussions. Many thanks to Max and team!”

“We have never been on a tour like this before. It was simply amazing. Each day of the tour was like unwrapping a new surprise. We stayed in very comfortable accommodation within some unique iconic locations such as on Mont St Michel and Carcassonne.”

“This trip was a dream come true. I had wanted to see all these places in France for 10 years, ever since I first became interested in the Plantagenets. We visited every site I had on my list and I learnt so much. Max did such an amazing job organising it all, down to the very last detail and went out of her way to make sure we were all happy. The French guide, Ange, was excellent, his knowledge seemed limitless and he was great fun as well. Accommodation was superb and always in such a good location. The highlight for me was staying on Mont Saint-Michel. I will never forget watching the sun come up and the light making the abbey glow. I would have loved to stay another night! Fontevraud Abbey and Carcassonne were also fantastic places to stay. In short, I had a great time with a great bunch of people. Thoroughly recommend this tour .”
