Welcome to London, a city brimming with charm and history, the perfect gateway to your Plantagenet adventure! If you’d like to arrive with ease, we’re happy to arrange a convenient airport transfer for you from the airport (optional extra). To make your journey even smoother, we can also secure pre-tour accommodation at our designated hotel (optional extra), giving you time to enjoy the magic of London prior to the tour beginning.

On the evening before embarking on our journey, we invite you to a warm and friendly Meet & Greet at the hotel, where you can meet your fellow travellers and begin to connect over a shared love of history. SATURDAY | JULY 5 | LONDON to BATH

Day 1: Magna Carta and Medieval Marvels

We begin our journey with a visit to Salisbury, where at the cathedral, you'll have the opportunity to view one of the original remaining copies of the Magna Carta, a cornerstone of English legal history. Close by is the ancient site of Old Sarum, an Iron Age hillfort dating back to 400 BC, steeped in centuries of historical significance.

We then arrive in the beautiful city of Bath, where we will gather with newfound friends for a sumptuous 3-course welcome dinner, marking the beginning of unforgettable experiences and lasting friendships.

Day 3: Intriguing Tales of Mighty Strongholds

Our day begins with a visit to Warwick Castle, a majestic fortress that stands as a testament to the power and grandeur of the medieval era. For the adventurous souls among us, climbing to the top of Guy's Tower promises breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. We will take the opportunity to grab a bite to eat here before making our way to what many consider the jewel of Plantagenet castles. Kenilworth Castle awaits, its spectacular ruins once home to the formidable Dukes of Lancaster—a defining landmark of the Plantagenet era.

Tonight, we bask in the historic splendour of the Coombe Abbey Hotel, where indulgent luxury awaits, providing the perfect end to a day filled with history and adventure.

Travelling northward today, our first stop is the impressive ruins of Kirkstall Abbey. Wander through the ancient ruins, capturing the beauty of this historic site with your camera. Nearby, an intriguing museum awaits, offering a delightful spot for lunch at its cozy café.

Continuing through the picturesque countryside of northern England, our next destination is the awe-inspiring Barnard Castle. Belonging to the Earls of Warwick from the 14th century onward, this remarkable fortress later came into the possession of Richard III through his wife, Anne Neville. Prepare to be enchanted by the rich history and grandeur of this medieval stronghold.

We begin our day with a visit to the majestic Alnwick Castle, one of Britain’s most iconic landmarks and the second-largest inhabited castle in England. While we are all Plantagenet fans, I am sure there are also Harry Potter fans amongst us, and you might recognise this castle as Hogwarts School of Magic.

In the evening, our adventure culminates in the historic city of York, where we'll dine in style and enjoy a surprise guest speaker. This will add an extra layer of insight to our exploration of medieval history.

THURSDAY | JULY 10 | YORK

Day 6: Exploring the Charms of York

Next, prepare to be awestruck by the grandeur of Dover Castle, standing regal and mysterious atop the famous white cliffs. Explore its vast expanse, including the secret wartime tunnels and the meticulously recreated medieval rooms of the great tower.
